The CampsiteWhen tourism started to pick up in the middle of the 60s, also Zirngast Camping opened – at the beginning we were open only in the summers and very soon it became a popular holiday destination for campers. Camping in these times required vacationers who felt very close to nature – no washing machines, only cold water. In the course of time many things have changed…. The campers were the ones who contributed to “discover” Schladming as a wintersport region – in the beginning of the 70s a small crowd of regulars already braved Jack Frost.
Right from the beginning the campground has been characterized by the close contact to the Zirngast family – many close friendships formed which until this day exist.
In the course of development of Schladming as a skiing resort also the crowds of winter campers increased, nevertheless it has remained its familiar atmosphere.
